I bought a new laptop. The Macbook Pro 13.3″. i5, 500gb hard drive. They had a special at Geant and it only cost 318 KD which is the lowest price I’ve seen in Kuwait for it.

I originally had a black macbook for three years but then I decided to switch over to a Windows laptop because I didn’t think that the amount I spent on that black macbook ($1500 at the time) was really worth it. I thought that Apple laptops were over priced, especially for that black plastic macbook that I bought.

I bought a Samsung SF 310 last year. At first I liked it.. but after a couple of months I started to really dislike it to the point of not wanting to use it anymore. The quality of the screen for some reason went down and I noticed that the colors on it were off. That was really annoying because when I would edit a picture or video I would edit it wrong, because when I saw the edited photo or video on another screen, it looked off. So what I would do to compensate would be to give it wrong settings that looked wrong to me on the Samsung screen, but I knew would look okay on every other screen.

The touchpad had an update about last month and since then it has become UNBEARABLE to use. Every time I would tap to click the mouse pointer would move ever so slightly and click on something else. I’ve closed tabs, windows, and mis clicked so many things all the time that I didn’t even want to use it anymore.

A couple months after I got the laptop, the left speaker blew on it! It already had shit sound quality, but then one of the speakers blew! lol

So I was on the look out for a new laptop and my criteria was a good screen, a good touchpad, and decent speakers. I searched all over x-cite, all over geant, and all over carrefour. Everything pointed towards the Apple Macbook Pro. Another laptop that got close was the Asus Zenbook which is one of those new ultra books, but I didn’t want something with such limited hard drive space.

I decided on the Macbook Pro and I’m pretty amazed at this laptop so far. Gone is the plastic that the black book I used to own had. Now this new Macbook Pro 13 has a aluminum unibody which is made out of one block instead of multiple ones. The screen quality and color rendition is fantastic, and the touchpad is so smooth and sexy. With OS X Lion, theres a bunch of new gestures that the touch pad has that is similar to the iPad. I can swipe up with four fingers to show all my windows and get the desktop easily, which is really cool! The system is really fast and so far I’m really happy so far with the macbook.

One complaint would be that the keyboard feels so soft. I’m more used to “clicky” and harder keyboards, but this keyboard is super soft and it’s going to get a while to get used to it.

I’m back to Apple and it doesn’t look like I’ll be getting a windows laptop in the future. The quality and features of Apple laptops exceeds Windows laptops. Sure, this 13″ doesn’t have a video card, but 95% of the time I’m not using any software on my macbook that really demands ones so it’s not a big deal to me. You pay a higher price for the Apple laptops but I feel that with this new aluminium macbook pro 13″ it’s worth it.

Good choice. I agree with your quality concerns; the quality on Apple hardware is much better than any PC OEMs. I’ve had my 13 inch MBP since June 2010 and it has been great.
